Cold Weather Shelter

The Westminster Cold Weather Shelter provides a safe place for homeless individuals of Carroll to sleep during the winter months. Crossroads volunteers are responsible for overseeing the check in process at the shelter every Tuesday and Wednesday evening throughout the season (Nov-March). Volunteers have the opportunity to develop relationships with the clients and enjoy authentic Christian community by serving within our team.

Do Something Saturdays

Every third Saturday members, guests and friends of Crossroads gather to serve our campus communities. Projects range from yard work for an elderly neighbor, light cleaning or construction for a ministry partner organizations, and more. Come out and serve for as long or as little time as you have available – no skill needed! No sign up necessary, just meet at the designated Crossroads campus and join the fun!

Food Pipeline

Crossroads has developed a partnership with the Helping Up Mission in Baltimore, re-distributing their surplus donated food to food pantries in the Carroll County area. Volunteers are needed to drive the church box truck to HUM on Tuesday mornings to pick up the food and then make drop offs according to a planned route; volunteers are also needed to sort and deliver left over food.

Men of Standard

Volunteers are needed to support this Crossroads affiliate ministry in a variety of ways including making a meal, providing tickets or passes to field trip opportunities (i.e. movies, sports, plays, bowling, etc.), praying for the ministry, donating needed supplies, providing job opportunities for graduates, and helping identify opportunities for ministry to work for donations.

Sullivan Avenue Outreach

Join Crossroads Restoration members as they regularly serve their neighbors within their community! Being the most marginalized community in the county, the Sullivan Avenue neighbors are significantly impacted by the pressures of food, childcare and housing costs in consequential ways. Volunteers are needed to help with weekly Thursday evening food distribution, free movie nights on the first and third Fridays of every month (June through October), bilingual service support and emerging outreach initiatives as we uncover additional needs within the community.

The Blitz

Each May our Crossroads family joins together to “blitz” the community and serves in a variety of ways in teams throughout the county. Come join us as we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those around us!

Appalachia, WV

Once the wealthiest and largest coal producing region in the world, McDowell County, WV is became the poorest county in all of Appalachia after the collapse of the coal industries in the 1980s. Today it is one of the poorest areas in the entire United States. Volunteers are needed to help our primary ministry partner there - A New Beginning Recovery Ministry – to serve the local community, 80% of which struggle with alcohol and drug addiction. Join one of our regular missions trips to help with light service or construction projects and outreach events, along with our local partners (New Life for Girls and Men of Standard) to invite men and women enter Christ-centered recovery programs.

Baltimore, MD

AppyTime for Learning is an inner-city Baltimore ministry that helps elementary-age students who are struggling in school. Volunteers are needed on a weekly basis to provide one-on-one tutoring to students while in the classroom every Thursday. Training and materials are provided.

Disaster Relief / Samaritan’s Purse

Crossroads partners with Samaritans Purse North American Ministries to respond to natural disasters by providing volunteer relief across the U.S. We travel to disaster sites and join other church-linked volunteers from around the country to work on Samaritan’s Purse-planned projects, bringing compassion and practical relief to those affected by these events.

Samaritan’s Purse Disaster Relief Trip – November 2018

Serve people facing disaster. If we have enough interest, Crossroads will plan a November trip through Samaritan’s Purse, serving Houston, TX flood victims. Dates to be determined.

Nicaragua

Crossroads church and members have served extensively and consistently in Nicaragua for more than a decade. In 2008 Crossroads became the first affiliate founder of NicaWorks!, through Crossroads Missions Pastor Tim Adams and his wife Katie. NicaWorks! helps Nicaraguans break the cycle of inter-generational poverty by providing real opportunities for spiritual, economic, social, and educational growth. Crossroads members can get involved in NicaWorks! ministry in Nicaragua by:

- donating bikes to the ministry’s bike shop
- becoming a financial supporter of the ministry
- coming on our annual January or July mission trip
- donating items requested by the ministry

Guatemala

Crossroads partners with Fresca Presencia, a vibrant church located in Guatemala City that has a huge heart for ministry outside its walls. The church has two primary outreach efforts: supporting two local orphanages and providing breakfast feeding program and devotions at eight elementary schools in poor communities outside the city. Crossroads volunteers can support the ministry by coming on our annual trip to provide medical care and practical outreach alongside Fresca Presencia church members.

March 26 - April 1, 2019: Serve at Fresca Presencia Church, with free medical clinics, school-based programs and outreach. All volunteers welcome, with and without formal medical training. Email Steph Albright: salbright@crossroads140.com.

Ghana

Crossroads began its work in Ghana, Africa through a partnership with Agape Gospel Mission in 2018. Agape is a church-planting ministry that trains future pastors through an intensive year-long apprenticeship program at the central church located in the capital city of Accra. Upon graduation pastors are sent out to plant churches throughout the country including the unreached people groups and predominantly Muslim communities in the country’s north and eastern regions.

The ministry also runs a free boarding school onsite at the Accra church for children who are AIDS orphans. Most recently it has begun partnering with International Justice Mission (IJM) to free young boys enslaved by fisherman working on Lake Volta and providing the emancipated children with shelter, care and schooling at their Accra orphan home.

Crossroads will begin taking teams to Ghana to serve our ministry partner staff at Agape in October, 2019.
